Ways I'm Sorta Like dubaiwalla [May. 16th, 2006|06:28 pm]
susan smitten
So dubaiwalla and I were talking on the phone yesterday, and I mentioned that I liked hanging out with him better than I liked hanging out with this other guy, because Other Guy and I don't have anything in common. He took the position that he and I don't have anything in common, either, and yet we can be friends in spite of our differences.

So I spent much of today wondering what he and I have in common. There are a number of things!

1) We both have Livejournals.
2) We both eat Indian food a lot.
3) We both like Malibu.
4) We both support Barcelona.

That is, he supports Barcelona, and apparently SO DO I, BECAUSE I'M FREE ON WEDNESDAY!!! WOOHOO!! AND I DON'T HAVE TO WORK ON THURSDAY!!! DOUBLE WOOHOO!!!

So that's good news. =)

In unrelated news, I was tagged by mcgillianaire to do this:
Explain your LiveJournal name and its meaning. When you're done, tag as many people as there are letters in your name.

Chu-hi is an extraordinarily tasty alcoholic beverage. It is a product of Japan. It is not a brand name, but rather a formula that goes something like this: A good shot of sho-chu (a white liquor usually made from barley and popular in Korea), some fruit juice, some sparkling water, and some gum syrup (clear liquid sugar).

In Japan, it comes in a bazillion flavors (grape, peach, yuzu, strawberry, etc) and it's about as strong as beer. A vending machine next to our apartment in Kobe dispensed it in 500ml cans, and when we moved to Nishinomiya, we were meters from a 7-11 which vended chu-hi around the clock. I never meant to co-opt the beverage for my identity; I was probably just really appreciating a cold chu-hi when I started journaling.

You can make it with vodka, by the way. And I recommend strawberry juice.

Your LJ name implies that you are thus intoxicating!

Teehee =)

(I'm about as strong as beer. And much tastier than a Bacardi Breezer or a Smirnoff Ice.)

HEY DUDE! (I know, don't call you dude...)

Good to hear from you!

I'll remove your sister's pictures... for a price. I could use a nicer car. Otherwise, sorry. She's too photogenic for me to remove her, just like that!

I'll email you. =)

Love,
Susan

I did some thinking later and we have more in common:

1) We are insanely thin.
2) We love getting drunk.
3) We are not afraid to sing in public. This might have a lot to do with point 2.
4) We both love to go to new places and take pictures, although you've had far more success with both.

I clicked the 'borrow a lesbian' link expecting stupidity, or crass marketing. However, the program described in the story actually sounds like an excellent idea. I'd have many questions for most of these people.

I wouldn't want to ask the blind guy anything. But, it would be alot of twisted fun to spend forty five minutes making funny faces, obscene gestures, and flashing him.

Before I found out that your initials are C.M., I thought you must be Rebecca of the class of '87. Now I don't know what to think. I didn't know about your mustache. That's hot.

How much of that post is true? I have many physics questions.

I also need help on my supercolider. This isn't some pathetic particle accelerator. This baby accelerates watermellon! Or it would if I could get big enough Tesla coils and a freon system that keeps things cool enough.

Is the quantum foam the underlying fabric of the universe? Do phsyical laws exist absent of all matter and energy? If I were to build a magic box that was impenetrable to all matter and energy (including neutrinos) and then use a magic vaccuum to suck everything out of that that box, would the box be truly empty? Or would space/time still exist in the box and the laws of physics still apply?

Stanislau Lem says in Dragons Of Probability that electrons exist only in configurational space. Is this true?

What's with the bunny? Or is it a hare? Short ears usually mean hare.

Thanks for all the insight, genious! I think I get you now. But you never answered Doc's question about the mammal. By the way, are you in fact Thai?
