I was going to keep going with that (the recursive thing), but Don has spent the last week pirating software for the thing, which he's now installing. So my phone is now in his custody.

Re: and in true dubai fashion...

One I made from a kit from the Japanese dollar store.

The other was given to me by a co-worker in Japan. The ladybug reads "lazy susan" on the back - I think the guy got it free with a bottle of water or something.

Me too -- I've just gotten rather high on a new laptop purchase and a new iPod! Wanted both for a very long time, and now have both! So much to play with and tinker with. Wheeeeee!!!

I think I'll pick up a Nokia E61 in Kuwait -- but the iMate looks really nice. It's almost like the "sidekick/danger" in the US.

I don't know what the "sidekick/danger" is! iMate is based in Dubai, so it's good for me if I need to have it serviced.

I wonder which one has the bigger screen? I couldn't get a good picture of it, but I love the screen on mine! I'll have to show you in person.

You have work to do when you get here, don't you? Because I think we would like to monopolize your time.

I have to go to a bank, and I have to pick up some stuff from RAK, and maybe file paperwork. That's about it (plus online things like staying up to date on email)

Well, cool! Don said you'll be here a few days; after about noon tomorrow I'll be in town until the second or third! :-D As far as I know, Don will be free all that time, as well, except for possibly a couple of computer repairs.

You've probably already discussed this, but if you get stir crazy tonight, he's available for drunken shenanigans.

Hahha! I misread this as "would be gone, after about noon tomorrow!" and I was sad.

But now, not sad!

I'm up for doing stuff for the next few days. I have a slight interest in going to the Hajars, Oman, Abu Dhabi, or Qatar, but Dubai is good too.

Trilogy and MIX and Zinc would be fun.

Last night I just slept from 2100 until 0400. Now I am well rested and possibly stir crazy, although not sure about the difference between stir crazy and regular crazy.

Okay, mine doesn't get digital TV... I think your friend wins. Japanese phones are ALWAYS cooler (and cost less). Don's in Japan came with Karaoke and Omikuji.

If only my phone had a qwerty keyboard, people would think it's cooler

But I like it plenty enough for me. :)

Nokia 6620. - smaller screen, good camera, bluetooth, infrared - GSM, unlocked :) Digital TV, Series 60 symbian OS - means tons of programs/games for free that are SUPER easy to install, I've browsed webpages on that silly thing too, and not the phone retarded webpages, but pages like this one, etc. Just get an unlimited data plan added so your bill isn't high. (I dunno how it works over there). But Cool phone. Nice resolution too. :)

If only the Imate didn't have windows CE :)

Re: If only my phone had a qwerty keyboard, people would think it's cooler

That webpage browsing thing caught me by surprise! I didn't expect it to be so much fun! (See above photos.)

No intention of paying the local phone company for data. We have wireless at home and at most hotels I stay at, so I can surf for free with WiFi. I haven't played with bluetooth or infrared yet; I wish I had G3!!

Symbian seems rilly cool, but I'm satisfied with Windows Mobile. It seems really stable and customizable. I don't know how much of the software for it is actually free, since Don pirated loads of programs for it...

Re: If only my phone had a qwerty keyboard, people would think it's cooler

Symbian really is awesome because tons of the software I use is truly free and much better than their paying counterparts. Yeah the web browsing is awesome, and it's nice to be able to use those really big MMC cards in your phone. :)

G3 would be the really high data rate UMTS service, I believe that's what you're talking about?

My phone is just Edge/GPRS, but it still streams video nicely. That's cool that the phone does Wifi, a rare feature, even in the high-end market. When so many people just get the crappy freebie phones here, I really feel sorry for them for what they missed out on.

You truly have one of those phones where it'll make people go "Wow, that's a kickass phone". lol
