In and Out in Dubai [Sep. 12th, 2010|12:25 pm]

Here are a few too many pictures of the last couple of weeks ~ at least, the parts I spent at home. Yes, I'm aware that most of these are food.

This is the view from a pilot friend's apartment. If you look hard enough, you can see the Burj Al Arab near the left border, even though it was a hazy day.

The North Texas portion of the World's Most Inaccurate Map, scribbled on a mural in Cactus Cantina in Dubai. My little brother added "KELLER" to it a few years ago, but I can't find it now.

Omuraisu. Habanero-and-everything omelet on jalapeno-and-tomato rice. A creation of our in-house feeder.

Google voice search recognized these search terms.

First session of a purely educational wine lesson with friends.

Fresh corn and red onion pizza.

Jalapeno, pineapple, and veggie pepperoni pizza.

Hmmm.

A hilariously auspicious omen...

...for menoir...

...which turned out to be full of truth! Hooray!

Wide Range Restaurant in Karama

This one probably belonged in my Abu Dhabi post.

Every day was an omelet day.

Awesome lights, installed by awesome friends.

Chat in Bur Dubai: Pani puri, sev puri, and dahi batata puri.

We couldn't get in that night because there was a one hundred dirham cover charge...

...not to mention a dress code.

This is for mrputter.

Bur Dubai. The pan pizza wasn't born here, but it got here as fast as it could.

I thought so! We were starving when we arrived, which may have influenced our opinion, as did its proximity to the Metro station. Did you know it's open 24 hours?

Hee. I'd totally forgotten about that mural!!

Just held a big Eid party here last night. Much food, much alcohol and much rejoicing, etc. Unfortunately few pictures, sigh. Else I'd reciprocate. Ah well.

Surprising absence of a hangover today. Still trying to figure that one out.

Maybe because you ate properly, and possibly the quality of the drinks? Happy Eid!

I've never understood putting corn on pizza, but maybe the people who eat it feel the same way about pepperoni.
