OH WOW. I'm absolutely envious. All I've got is a crummy apartment above a pizza place. >_
I have been going crazy in the place I've lived in the last seven years. Time for a BIG change. :-)
That is definitely a big change. And it will be glorious. I can't imagine someone not enjoying an apartment like that. Well, I can but I don't count them as people.
You can't imagine what a huge change. The place I live in now is noisy, dark, has security issues, and smells like a dead goat.
...sounds kinda like my current place. Haha! But a change of scenery is always uplifting and an extreme upgrade in accommodations only makes it that much better. I'm really happy for you. =)
Thank you so much! :))))) You know what would be really cool? If you could visit. Door is open!
That would be a lot of fun! Maybe I'll have some time to travel once I graduate at the end of the year. When I'm in Seoul next year my door is open for you as well. I can only imagine that Korea is more interesting than west Philadelphia. =)
You'll love Seoul. I've only been a few times, but it is special. And your understanding of the place is already far, far deeper than mine. You're going to have a blast.
Awesome! Makes my basement flat seem very dark and crappy.
Garden, dog, and an ever-rising rent in Hampstead. The new flat isn't bad, but it's not a good as the Hampstead flat was. Then again, there's the puppy, which makes it all better!
Yep! You haven't seen the pictures? She's awesome. Sleeping under the table in the garden even as we type.
I have now! She's beautiful!
She's a good girl; a playtime nap under the drying laundry seems right, now. We're trying to figure out how to fit her into the wedding. Maybe the ring bearer?
Yay!! That's great news. What an awesome view indeed!!! :)
Come enjoy it in person!!!!!!!!!
I take it you convinced your landlords to let you out of your current lease. Yay! Which way does the apartment face?
It faces DIFC! Which is what I wanted! I expect you to visit often and bring your tripod. Yay, indeed!
Can't wait to see it! Plus you'll be a stone's throw from all the Indian food in Karama.
What did you have against 21st C though? I walked past the entrance yesterday, and it didn't look half bad from the outside.
One problem I remember is that if somebody was smoking in another apartment, the smell would come through the aircon into mine. The windows couldn't be opened or even cracked. Then they covered the whole thing in outdoor advertising, which made the tinted windows even darker. And I thought it was big when I moved in, but I visited recently, and was amazed how much smaller it was than I remembered. I had been in a postage-stamp sized place in Japan, so I thought my room was HUGE because you could fit a bed in there. :)
Not that my place in Index won't be small. The bedroom is tiny. But I love it. I didn't want to leave when I was done viewing it.
One word: Block!
Aha! Another word: Party!
Another one: Puppy.
One more: Pile!
It looks quite luxurious!
I am terribly excited. =D
That's seriously cool. Congratulations. I can't wait to see pics of the view.
Thanks! And trust me, you will.
I'm going to paint the walls all kinds of shocking colors. =D
So Very Awesome! Congratulations!
Thanks! Long time, no see. <3
oooh, *nice*! wish i could come see it!
Some New Year's Eve? Maybe next year?
hm - the next time i visit india, i might just take a trip to dubai, especially if my brother's still there. easier for you to visit sf, though :)
..and SF might be a little more exciting. =D
indeed :) plus you'll get to meet mary!
Which I've been trying to do for... wait, a couple of years??
well I guess I'll be visiting Dubai often this summer :)
I enjoyed reading the mixed impressions at this forum - http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=111955
- last year when I was falling in love with the building, and recently, when I've been impatient for the chance to move in. Some people love it, some hate it, and just a few have opinions somewhere in the middle. When it sprung up here, I thought, how did THAT get in? It's not Dubai at all!
I don't even have the keys, and I know how I'm going to decorate. Have a few days' work and a mini-holiday coming up before I can go crazy on the walls and pick up the weird furniture I envision for the place. Stay tuned. :-)
