Boat Matters

Jebel Ali is a medium large port, home to most of Dubai's "Free Zones."

John's ship (well, not his ship, unless Maersk decides he can keep it) has been here weekly in November.

These Imperial Walkers absurdly large cranes are used to load and unload containers.

The sleeping quarters of 3rd Officer John are larger than pictured.

Here's a different sort of vessel. "Jamila" was the site of our booze cruise with the Swede.

The Taj Palace Hotel catered the buffet and open bar on this two-hour tour of Dubai Creek.

Actually, we passed a lot of gaudy, alcohol-soaked festival boats. Swede reflected at left.

Contrast the loading docks of Dubai Creek with the top photo of containers at Jebel Ali.

Here's a close-up of the notice, photographed by Don. He says, "It sounds like the future."
