Eureka!

I should have seen it earlier. I know the real reason Don moved to Dubai.

He was sick of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jokes.

Don, I feel your pain. Nobody made fun of my name. Then, Spenser For Hire went on the air. I protested that it was his last name and my first name. I pointed out that he spelled it with two Ss and I used a C. I've endured twenty years of people shouting "Spencer for hire!" at me.

You're not a mutant ninja turtle, Don. And people should acknowledge that.

Re: Eureka!

The worst part is that there was a short lived sitcom entitled Spencer, about an odd high school student. No one seems to remember it.

Hey, do you even worry about being up in airplanes so much with all the radiation you're getting up there? Do they monitor that sort of thing to protect you?

The column was written in 81, I have no idea if things have changed since then.

Saxophones?

(I put this here so you might see it.. in case you miss it)

91. Saxophones and string instruments are so sensual.

In High School while practicing in our state ensemble competition piece (it was a trio of girls, tenor alto and soprano - which the soprano is now what I prefer and play) our director that would guide us and direct us to play more like a string instrument, as if we were a violin, viola or cello. As impossible as that sounds, it is acheivable, interesting how stringed instruments and saxophones can almost be intermingled such as that.

But, further than just a classical reference, I much prefer the mellow moody longing sound I get from putting my heart into a jazz piece. Get me lost in my music, I'm not sure you'll find me but you'll sure enjoy the serenade while you wait for me to come back.
