Celebratory Pan Throwing [Jul. 17th, 2006|03:35 pm]

[Tags|]

We had these crummy fake-nonstick pans.

Don especially found them distasteful.

So we ceremoniously threw them down the chute!

Meanwhile, Don has mounted our good pans this way! He wants me to mention that he ran out of copper polish, so that's why they don't look as pretty as they usually do.

This is new, too. Lids go here!

I've always approved of you. Now that you have brought it up, I wonder a fascist blog would be like.

I think it will soon be time to start planning midweek shenanigans again. Sho Chos and Peppermint this time, maybe?

If I'm not buried under the weight of shopping, meeting other people, and Miscellaneous Errands, that snorkeling trip to Fujairah you guys were talking about might be fun too.

Oops, the first time I posted this I broke the streak, and found out the subject lines havea limit.

Does Sho Chos operate during the summer? For some reason I thought they didn't, but it's been a couple of years since I've been there. I've never done Peppermint! Let's definitely do that!

I would suggest that snorkeling trip for tomorrow, except that I think we'll have to plan it for a Thursday or Friday, right? 'Course, that's something that could be done if you come back to visit over winter holidays, if we can't arrange it this time around.

I didn't see it in time. I will have to check my email at home to see what you were saying.

Apparently it does, just that you have to be indoors in the summers. Is tomorrow night good?

I am a wimp about the cold, so if we can manage it, I'd prefer to snorkel in the summer. Of course, that whole day job thing gets in the way. But let us see!

I forgot to say anything; the Re: subject line sort of truncated it, so it looked stupid all around!

Oh, that's right, we had that conversation before! I found it a teeny bit chilly in winter as well (though certainly not unbearable.. I could stay in for 45-60 minutes at a time before getting too cold). I'll let you know shortly if I have a weekend day off! (It's a "good way to get a sunburn," but we had that conversation before, too.)

I think tomorrow night is good! It's advantageous for me to sleep all day on Wednesday, so expect me to try to keep you up all night tomorrow. You have the right to ignore me on that point.

I know you're not stupid so that's alright. I've used all my icons now.

My plans got a hitch, as my plans generally do. Sho Chos not only has the outdoor area closed, it needs reservations. And I am told that Peppermint is only fun on Fridays (and Thursdays, but I don't know if you'd be into an Indian night).

Any suggestions? If you are feeling adventurous and do want to try something Indian, there is this Indian place called Copacabana in the 4 Points Sheraton that we could check out.

That place is SO LOUD. Like, I can hear it from the 6th or 7th floor!

But, everyone seems to be having a good time.

So you have; it's not many. Did I promise you an icon? Sorry I fell asleep last night mid-thread.

Hmm, that might be cool! I'll peruse a Time Out Dubai. In the interest of saving funds, I might try to locate a Ladies' Night for us, or some other bargain. What time do you want to go out? I'm guessing early?

Perhaps we can meet at 11 if there is dancing involved and 10 if we are starting off in a regular bar. Let me know when you've picked a place and I can talk to J and S. You guys can call D, I think he was trying to get through to antivert the other day and didn't get a chance to speak to him.

I forgot the subject line in my last reply. But yay icon!

My source has relented and says Sho Chos would be nice after all. What does Time Out have to say about the matter?

Re: I forgot the subject line in my last reply. But yay icon!

It doesn't say anything about reservations! Just this:
"Sophisticated, classy, and dead trendy, this is where Dubai's beautiful people go out late to play, pose, and look very pretty."

We could pull that off, right? I'll clip my toenails, and maybe even wash my hair!

Re: So you have; it's not many. Did I promise you an icon? Sorry I fell asleep last night mid-thread

Oh! I don't think Don knows D was trying to call him! I'll let him know when he wakes up.

10 or 11 is good.

Here is a list of Ladies' Nights: Boston Bar, Boudoir, The Lodge, MIX, Century Village, Rock Bottom, Savage Garden, Zinc.

Of those, I think Savage Garden sounds the best, but actually I don't know if any of those are places you need to go to before your move. And being the only Lady in our group (I'M A LLAADYYYY!).. unless I can recruit some, which I certainly will.. it's sort of selfish of me to pick a place based on that criteria.

So Sho Chos or your Copas place is probably the best option. =)

Of all the places listed there, Boston Bar, Boudoir, and The Lodge are the only ones I've been to, so I'd be up for anything else, really. I don't mind checking out Savage Garden, but I don't know anything about salsa, so keep that in mind. Also, J says he is bigger on drinking than dancing, especially given that it is a weekday. bklyn_in_dubai says he will probably be late, wherever we go. Maybe you want to call up speed_fetish and get his thoughts too?

Re: So you have; it's not many. Did I promise you an icon? Sorry I fell asleep last night mid-thread

I think that with none of us really keen to dance (at least, I'm not... I'm guessing Don isn't as well.. oh, those other two guys like to dance, don't they? Can they salsa, I wonder?) then a place with professional dancers and amateur salsa-ers would be ideal! I like to drink and watch dancers, myself.

I think Savage Garden might close/end at one, but that's okay being a weekend. And being in Satwa, if we did want to stay out past one, it would be easy to swing.

Savage Garden it is. 10 PM?

Also, don't forget you have to draw an MS-Paint picture of us dancing badly at the African club the other night!
