I always forget my camera when I go to Bangladesh. Finally I remembered! Some people don't like having to go to Dhaka because it saddens them to see the poverty; it upsets me, too, but I don't know... I find the place cheerful in its own way. I like it. It has spirit.
There's lots of political grafitti.
The men wear skirts.
Half the buses in Dhaka are bright and colorful...
...the other half look like they conduct daily service to hell.
Thanks for sharing the pictures of Bangladesh. The last time my dad went there he didn't take the camera either. A trend perhaps?
The skirt worn by many Muslim males in the Indian subcontinent is called a lungi. Interestingly, the Wikipedia article mentions how it is the most commonly-seen dress worn by Bangladeshi males. It actually originates from the part of India I'm from.
Most of the adult male members on my dad's side of the family wear it and its variants. My dad wears it as soon as he arrives home from work but curiously, never does so when visitors drop by.
I tried getting into the family tradition of wearing one this summer while I was in Oman but let's just say I prefer the traditional combination of a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. :)
