Re: NaNoWriMo

Brilliant! I bet it ends up being a way for us all to waste time doing anything but writing towards our 50,000 quota ;)

Re: NaNoWriMo

What do you think of the write-in concept? We get together and then ignore each other while we furiously type. Prize to the person with the highest word output. (And maybe punishment to the person with the lowest - must read excerpts aloud?)

Re: NaNoWriMo

Yeah, why not? Sounds like fun. Probably a private venue with wifi and adequate power sockets for people's laptops would be cool.

Re: NaNoWriMo

Loft! Loft! (during the afternoon)

Food, empty corners, wifi, liquor, convenient location.

Re: NaNoWriMo

Yes, its advantages are many. You are smart!

Wonder if we could get them to turn the TVs off?

Re: NaNoWriMo

I am pretty sure the tvs could get turned off with or without their cooperation, at least in the afternoon...

Re: NaNoWriMo

Why color an orange cat orange? We need to find a white cat. And paint him to stand in for Cyrus.

Re: NaNoWriMo

We have wifi and power strips... though I would probably hide my wireless card to minimize distractions.

I love those quiet English tea places (with nice china and chandeliers and velvety fainting couches) in Japan. Never seen anything like it here, have you?

Re: NaNoWriMo

Hotel lobbies might be good. Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi fits the bill perfectly -- it would be awesome to go in, sit there for 8 hours a day for a whole month, and spend $0.

Re: NaNoWriMo

I've said it before and I'll say it again - you have all the good ideas! I'd love to invade Emirates Palace for a month. =D

I was already imagining myself writing in hotel lobbies. Being on reserve in November, these hotels will likely be in Bangladesh and Indonesia.

Re: NaNoWriMo

I like the Emirates Towers lobby, and the lipton tea zone, and the starbucks there, and the Sheraton Dubai Creek lobby (big pyramid, view of 11 stories inside, plants)

But by far the Grand Hyatt has the nicest work area -- the inside/outside garden! I think there is a cafe hidden in there somewhere, with tables/power/chairs. If not, some of the only-open-for-dinner restaurants might have some open areas for seating during the day.

Re: NaNoWriMo

Well, there's Shakespeare's, but that's always rather more like Miss Havisham's grandmother's boudoir.

Re: NaNoWriMo

Well said! Though the outdoor area might be nice for writing this time of year.
