WILD WADI WHOA [Apr. 26th, 2007|05:48 pm]

WHOA, Dubai people, have you ever been to Wild Wadi?? It's GREAT! I want to live there! Wet'n'wild Hurricane Harbor has got nothing on this place! (Master Blaster!! Tunnel of Doom!! And that storm on the hour, every hour!!)

Anyway, the last few days have been pretty special. We've been hanging out with our old friends Kazuki and Yumi who just got married on April 21 and came to Dubai for their honeymoon. When they got here, they met this couple named Sachiko and Ryo who got married on the same day, are staying in the same hotel, and will be on their Emirates flight back to Japan in the morning.

Sachiko and Ryo Kasami, Kazuki and Yumi Hattori, Don and Susan Durrance. Smiles!

As for the "Jumeirah Sceirah" - after the first time, I said I would NEVER do that again. Then I did do it again. BUT NEVER AGAIN! I wasn't going to try the "Wipeout" (body-boarding) because I knew I wouldn't be good at it, but then I tried it, and it was easier than I thought! And fun!

It's so cool! There is this one massive ride (goes for ten minutes or something and at each juncture you can choose from two or three slides) where the water propels you UP the slides! No stairs to climb! You start at the bottom, go up and up at breakneck speed and wonder if you'll die, then careen down twisty slides, including a pitch-black tunnel for 45 seconds or so!

Heehee... I can hear Don on the phone with his friend, going, "If you keep your legs crossed on the Jumeirah Sceirah, you don't get a wedgie!" Jumeirah Sceirah is one of those stupidly high, don't-look-down slides.

45 seconds or so
Whatwhatwhat? I seem to remember it being more like 3. But then I haven't been since, uhh, 2000 or so.

I had 3 dosas as part of lunch.

The actual time must lie between 3 and 45 seconds. It feels like ages!

Yay for dosas!
