Stamp scans! I created a community! [Jan. 30th, 2008|07:30 am]
susan smitten
I created a community for your viewing, scanning, and uploading pleasure!

I don't know how many readers of this journal collect stamps... but maybe some of you know collectors, and you can point them to stamp_scans.

I intend to update it frequently, but I'm hoping others will join and contribute. After all, I look at my own stamps all the time.

Join! Promote! Enjoy!

(If you think this sounds like something a person might do when they should be sleeping... you're right.)

Ooh! Don't worry about contributing until you're good and ready... but I'll looking forward to seeing what you've got!

I started my collection when I was about 8, got really into it in high school, and since then... well, it's sort of gotten out of control. I have to keep it on a leash. I do love my stamps.

Thanks for joining! Enjoy!

not much of a stamp person but i have to say that the stamps included in your post kick much ass and make me want to do more space traveling.

Stamps are the best hobby... they cost nothing and weigh even less. They are tiny, tiny works of art. They are typically designed by three people: one to make the picture (which must commemorate something worth remembering or aspiring to), one to design the text and numbers, and one to design the border. Nice ones can be looked at hundreds of times without discovering the complexities. Czech and Japanese stamps are the best, but Hungary and Poland do a good job. The U.S.A. used to make great stamps. They make "cool" stamps now, but nothing compared to a few decades ago.

I want to do a bit more space travel, myself. Virgin Galactic! And RAK in the UAE is building a space port!

p.s. If you join or watch my community, I promise to post lots more space travel related stamp scans. I have a whole album of space stamps, and lots more loose space stamps that haven't made it into the album yet.
