I'm 27. I've always looked forward to being 27!

I just figured out that Peter and Naoko have the same anniversary as my parents: April 5th. I realized this when I was going through the pictures I took with them on that very day. The following pictures were all taken in Singapore, despite resemblances to Arab states and/or New York.

Little Arabia!

Sultan Mosque as seen from Arab Street

Here's a closer look at the Sultan Mosque

Peter in a secret garden

Silhouette of Naoko in a Chinese mirror

Pretty incense burner in the Arabic restaurant where we lunched

Parkview Square, straight out of New York in stunning Art Deco style.

Meme me!Collapse )
p.s. Happy birthday to contrarydevil and po0rnima on the 15th, and flutterby3 on the 16th. Go sheep! \(^-^)/

I took a zillion pictures of this camera-hogging chipmunk.

Guess he knows what a cutie he is!

The Gangaramaya temple!

There are just so many in Colombo. The concierge sent me to this one.

Anyway, I've never seen so many Buddhas in my life.

Go Longhorns!

This is the main shrine here, and it's quite huge.

Here's a glimpse at the lofty and elaborate ceiling.

Wait - who enshrined this STRANGLER FIG, and why?

Here is a roof that looks like a Julia set.

More serene figures...

Just try shaking a stick at all these Buddhas!

Here's your narrator, acting like a dork.

There was a museum attached, and I took so many pictures in there that I'll have to save them for the next entry. Next entry includes the mystery of the enshrined strangler fig... solved!
