Hookena Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

I'm sick. I'm meant to fly to New York tomorrow, but I may have to call in. =(

A few days ago I did a 50-hour layover in the Phillipines - nice! - and before that I laid over in Rome. Wow, Rome is pretty. My colleagues and I drank Sicilian Nero D'Avolo by the astoundingly pretty Trevi fountain and strolled around looking at these famous ruins of all kinds. Then we had pizza and were serenaded by two pre-teen boys playing accordians!! They were so funny, I kind of wish I'd kidnapped them.

Between those trips, Don and I gave Fujairah another try. Turns out it's a wonderful place for snorkeling. Lots of big turtles, weird crustaceans, millions of colorful fishies and coral and anemones... and the sea is totally calm and clear. Did I say the UAE wasn't paradise? Well, scratch that. I'm in love.

Speaking of paradise and snorkels and stuff, here are some pictures from Hookena Beach in Hawaii - the quiet, sandy spot where Don and I tried snorkeling for the first time, and where Jeremy, Josh, Beth, and Clay went camping during part of their stay.

Josh and Jeremy are cooler than most people.

Pictures of Susan talking... yeah, those always turn out well.

This little lizard loved crawling all over Beth.

The little gecko "skink of some sort" (thanks, Shane!) leapt from person to person. Seen here on Josh's shoulder.

More of the local wildlife, which also included cats and mongeese.

With Canadians: Clay & Beth, Don, Matt & Kae, Jeremy, and Josh.

Also speaking of Hawaii, have you been watching LOST? I'd love to get to Oahu where it's being filmed. This series is getting more and more fun (though I sense terror is around the corner).
