The California Stricklands [Sep. 6th, 2009|06:01 pm]

My brother and his wife moved to Southern California, and this is where they live.

At night it looks like this, at least it did last week, and that isn't ideal.

The morning of the first day of school. Dirk would rather Chloe stayed home to play.

Walking to school on the first day! It's right across the street.

Doesn't she look happy about starting the second grade?

I would be. They get adventures! And California Science!

Okay! I think I will!

Daddy's got a brand new vice vise!

I like how the handle is the spoiler.

The front of their house, with 5 colors of roses blooming in front.

Strickland men and little lizards.

Generally, when entering a foreign port, US ships will fly both the "national ensign"(Stars and Stripes)and, as a courtesy, the national flag of the country whose port they are entering.

US Navy ships and most commercial vessels have a "flag locker" where flags of many nations are kept.

Re: Flags

Vexillology! Hey1 Great word there!

Uh, speaking of vocabulary ......

"vise \n\ :device for clamping something being worked on"
(and, yes, I know a preposition is a bad word to end a sentence with)

(or just about anything that's worth doing!)

Ya know, as I think about it, I am very well acquainted with your brother, and he may very well have a new vice!
