Vienna, Ten Years Later [Sep. 18th, 2010|03:25 am]

Last time I was in Vienna was in September of 2000 ~ ten years ago. I just landed from my second trip there. I love Vienna. If you ever hear me say, "I don't care about Europe," know that remark does not apply to Vienna.

Leopold Museum

The weather was perfect.

"Life and Death," Gustav Klimt

"Levitation," Egon Schiele

Concert posters for the Filmore East by Wes Wilson, 1967

Fabulous Art Nouveau furniture

"The Hope," by Otto Rudolf Schatz. Who are these people? How do they know each other?

Everything in Vienna has a texture.

I think a city is so civilized if I see streetcar cables.

Stop for little cheese sandwiches and coffee.

This guy wears mean shoes.

Streetcar cables.

Lots of loiterers at the Sigmund Freud Park

Awesome thing about Europe

God, I'd love to go to Vienna.

#4 Egon Schiele is a genius. Not was.

#12 I want some of those shoes to wear to my next sally to town...

Your Grandmother absolutely LOVED Vienna.

And your lovely mother worked with a lady who would have commented that those shoes would have been very good for killing roaches in a corner.

Do you suppose that those (shoes, not roaches) might be available in size 14?

Re: Vienna

I can see why! I don't really get tired of museums and churches; maybe she was the same way? Oh, and streetcars, and music, and coffee...

The shoes look like they're at least size 14. :^)

Yeah, at some point you find yourself taking a picture of the streets and buildings because they are so ornate and just THERE. And museum after museum! Did you do Schonbrun, or is that too touristy?

Hahaha - I got such a charge out of the crazy proliferating excess! Every surface that could be was covered with gold scroll.
