Collected On Shelves [Jun. 13th, 2013|08:57 am]

For angiereedgarner, who said, "Love to see closeups of your collected stuff!" I hope not to disappoint.

Inside is my stamp collection. Outside, there's some butterfly paper I used to decoupage a guitar case earlier, and a curtain rod which now suspends curtains.

MD's and tapes. That's right.

Speaking of angiereedgarner. I haven't decided what color to make this wall. Gold? Wallpaper? (Yes, the other picture belongs to you, antivert. I'm, uh, keeping it safe for you. On my wall.)

Other things that technically belong to antivert, who lives far away.

These are katoributa, miniature ones.

I'm so glad I asked for closeups. :D

If I had to pick a color would only be about how I felt that day, I'm no good to you.

I miss the color you had before! I really liked it.

I loved the chartreuse, too. Gotta be careful choosing wall colors; when I was shopping around, I looked at some flats that hadn't yet been repainted, and wondered, what were they thinking?

On the other hand, I don't want to deliberate too long. It's just a cheap flat in Sharjahtown. :-)

You don't drop/break all that stuff in front of your books when you access the books?

So far, no. :^)

Eta: And there won't always be a painting perched on top of some of them. Just moved!

Mighty impressed with the non-breakage.

Heehee! I think cats and party guests have been a larger detriment to my knick-knacks than me dragging books down. :^)

I think my kids and guests combined can't bat my score. And this is when I haardly have any knick-knacks. :)

And still I would trust you to come over and drag books off my shelf!

I love how the cats pose on your tables, as if they were another knick-knack on display. :-)

I had to do a google search for katoributa to find out what they are.

My sister is fond of saying:

If you have one of something, it's a curiosity.
If you have two of something, it's a coincidence.
If you have three of something, it's a collection!

Apparently, both you and I are collectors by nature.

Well, that is how we know each other. :^) I like your sister's saying. It's a struggle not to collect more cats, but I like to keep the ones happy, who live here. And I don't really collect books; I give them away and recklessly lend them all the time. I have a stack I need to sell off when I get my car back from the garage. But I always seem to have more books than shelves.

Oh you MUST let me know what books you're selling! I am a collector of books. I'm a firm believer that one can never own too many books. So when you're ready to part - send this gal a smoke signal. :)

Yes, the exquisitely arranged cats really add to the scene.

I am enjoying a knick knack collection so lovely dust free! Very artful.

Looking around me...

My CDs: not a curiosity.
My board games: not a curiosity.
My dictionaries: not a curiosity.
My wines: not a curiosity.

...

My cats: what a coincidence!!! :-D

You have more board games than me, which is not a surprise. But I have more cats than you. Neener.

I'm glad to see your Rubicae, because Max has been memorizing the solve patterns for the original cube.

Also, CDs... I remember those... :)

Re: Fotos

Rubicae! =D It's fun to learn new ways to solve them. The basic, beginners' way (which takes around two minutes) is something I can do while hardly looking at the cube, but it's so comforting a habit. I find it relaxing.

I have CD's in my car that I've owned for twenty-one years.

Re: Fotos

Hee. That's wee a bit longer than me. I got my first CD in June of 1994; only nineteen years ago.

(In my, uh, “defense,” 21 years ago I was living in Al Ain, where there weren't exactly any CDs available in stores then.)

Oddly enough, while this post is killer awesome for the closeups, it also reinforces the fact that I love your furniture. :)

I don't know how you keep all of your wonderful trinkets on shelves with those fabulous torties. My tortie loved "walking & knocking", as I called it. I quickly learned that if I wanted anything on a shelf it would have to be towards the back or it would be on the floor.

/sigh

I miss her, my Sophie. She was the bestest tortie ever. So fat with a big belly that she looooved having rubbed. She was a talker too. She also loved to lay in front of the fireplace...to the point where I would have to pick her up and move her away bc she would be SO HOT but she sort of turned into this relaxed, mummy, laying on her back with her legs in the air. Sophie had such personality - as every tortie I've ever met does. Sorry for the reminiscent rambling. I just miss her so much.
