Arabic Wedding in Texas [Sep. 16th, 2019|07:25 pm]
susan smitten
Good evening, dear LJ friends. I have a working computer, after a long time. Please enjoy a scene from our wedding.

Neither of us has much dancing experience, but I had a big ole dress. So I shook shook shook it. Then Sameer's mother tied a jingly thing to me, and I shook that. Then they lifted me on a chair, but that's for another video.

Later, my new MIL told me she felt like she was back in Damascus. That felt kind of special to me.

How are you today?

Congratulations!!!

:-)

The wedding looks like it was a lot of fun, and exhausting!

You look beautiful!

I am doing fine. I am keeping busy restoring a 170-year -old brick store in my neighborhood. I am still collecting stamps actively. I managed to get all of the US Zeppelin stamps, a lifetime dream of mine.

So, lets hear more about your new life. Will it be in Dubai or Texas?

It was hard on our feet. And it was the most fun day ever.

We're staying in Dubai for now. I've been here for 15 years already, and he grew up here. But time will tell what the future holds.

I had fun stamping our invitations and response envelopes! Then, of course, I saved all the envelopes that came back, for stamp removal. I'll locate a picture of our theme and post it. :^)

Here is an Instagram story I posted while Mom and I were stuffing envelopes. We had an ocean theme.

You know what, let me show you the sheets.

There were three different series, shown here. Each guest got one of each ~ two on the outer envelope, and a third on the response envelope inside.

Happy Weddingparty

Hey, super congratulations! It sounds great, and I'm really happy for you two!

Things here are just plodding along. Max just went to university this year, studying music education. Khai is enjoying ceramics, and making some fun pottery.

RE: Happy Weddingparty

Thank you! I saw the picture of Max in his dorm room, and my whole world tipped over. How is that infant in college? What does he play, by the way? I haven't seen Khai's ceramics, but that's a nifty pastime.

Re: Happy Weddingparty

Max plays trombone, bass in concert, and tenor when marching. He's doing Music Education. Music makes his soul feel good, and he's great at tutoring, so it really makes sense.

I didn't know he was such a rockstar. How cool is that!

Hey you! Glad to see you posting--I was kinda afraid you'd abandoned LJ after not seeing you around these parts for so long. Your wedding was so lovely and I'm glad you're sharing proof of it!

I've missed LJ, and it's always in the back of my mind. It felt so good to have that notebook open on my lap again.

I was so happy to have you with us at our wedding. Your presence truly helped to make it special. Thank you again for coming. <3
